Jack Torrance is a writer looking for a job. He takes on the responsibility of caring for the Overlook Hotel during the winter season along with his wife Wendy and his son Danny. This job is perfect for Jack, as it will provide him with enough time off to finally write his novel as well as making money. The problem? This mysterious Hotel seems to have been taken over by evil spirits…scary stuff!

A classic motion picture that I had not seen in years. The kind of horror films they don’t make anymore. The film, of course, is an adaptation from a Stephen King book he wrote three years earlier in 1977. The prolific horror novelist still and always has a well known disdain of Kubrick’s version. Like many of Stanley Kubrick’s films, it was misunderstood at the time of it’s release and was nominated for many Razzies awards, given to the worst films of the year. Can you believe that?

This film, I mean, this MASTERPIECE of a film is amazing from beginning to end. I’m having so much fun analysing every scene to try and find some hidden meanings. Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall’s performances are simply amazing (that bathroom scene, huh?) So terrifying, so sinister!

If you like slow paced scary films that’ll work you from the inside, The Shining is for you!

I recommend it greatly!
